Love, Cruelty, and Self-Destruction

Videos / Performances by Monet Clark, Cliff Hengst, Dale Hoyt, The Patchchords (w/ Fred Rinne), Beth Stephens & Annie Sprinkle

Telematic is pleased to present Love, Cruelty, and Self-Destruction, a screening of video/performance works by Monet Clark, Cliff Hengst, Dale Hoyt, The Patchchords (w/ Fred Rinne), and Beth Stephens & Annie Sprinkle, presented – in collaboration with San Francisco Cinematheque – as part of our current, on-going exhibition Farm and Friends – in 3D!

The works in this screening address the promise of love to heal wounds in nature and society, along with the propensity for love to become entangled in power dynamics that render it cruel and exploitative.  They explore themes of excess and absurdity; those moments when we prove to be our own worst enemies; and the possibility – indeed, the need – for acceptance and forgiveness.
