Tunneling is a found-footage digital video, which presents an industrial elevator car descending a steel-girded elevator shaft and exploding in a collision of fire and metal. The piece draws upon the rhythmic, musical qualities of the video image to provoke the audience’s senses like a rock song or a rave. It is a futurist fantasy of modernity’s destructive power and a meditation on the death-drive in technology.
